Medals Of The Genea-Bloggers Games

In reading the blogs of the GeneBloggers' Games participants I noticed all the medals have black backgrounds. The medals were created in the .png format so that they could be placed on any color background.

If you want to remove the black background, right click on any of the images below and "save as" to your desktop. The images will save as .png files rather than .jpgs.

Nice work, FM! One thing I should point out, however is that a bug in IE 6 does not allow transparent png images to render properly. The transparent color shows up as a sort of light blue. Right now, nearly 20% of Internet users are still on IE6 for some unknown reason.

IE6 doesn't have the same issue with transparent gif images, however.

Thanks John - Yes, I am painfully aware, as I live in a bi-browser household. I love your "some unknown reason" remark and could not agree more.

FINALLY, I have gotten my husband to switch to Firefox at work (still keeps IE as some of company's programs only work on IE)and now have him on an Apple at home.

That said, if I'm on Firefox and I can see the black background they haven't been loaded as .pngs, but as .jpgs.

As my Mother always said, "Looks are everything."
